Patients Rights
As a patient at the Care New England Wellness Center, you have certain rights
and considerations that assure you the most appropriate care for your needs and
satisfaction with your Wellness Center experience:
- You will be given considerate care and you will be provided all
reasonable and available services requested by your doctor/health care provider
and consistent with your program of care. Your access to treatment in the
services, programs, and activities provided by Care New England Wellness Center
is assured without discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion,
national origin, sex, age or handicap.
- You have the right to
information concerning your diagnosis, treatment and outcome in understandable
terms and to names of the Care New England Wellness Center personnel
participating in your treatment.
- You have the right to consent to the
treatment planned by your doctor/health care provider and the center and to
refuse any treatment to the extent permitted by law and consistent with the
Center’s policies.
- Your right to privacy will be respected, and the
confidentiality of your treatment and medical records will be maintained by
the center as prescribed by Rhode Island law and Center policy.
By the same token, you have certain responsibilities as a patient. Your
cooperation is essential to our ability to ensure the most complete and
appropriate care.
- You must provide accurate and complete information about your current
condition and past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications and other health
related matters to the best of your ability.
- You are responsible for
adhering to your recommended treatment plan, including following the
instructions of nurses and allied health personnel.
- You are
responsible for your own actions if you refuse treatment or fail to follow the
recommendations of your doctor/health care provider or other member of your
health care team.
- You need to be considerate of the rights of patients
and Care New England Wellness Center personnel and appropriately regard the
Center’s property as a matter of simple courtesy.
- Finally, you are responsible for fulfilling your
financial obligations to the Center for services you receive. If payment
of the Center’s bill is a hardship, you are urged to discuss your situation
with the office coordinator.
